Additional Order of Solar-Powered Airfield Lighting by Langley Air Base

Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, has placed two additional orders for Carmanah's solar-powered airfield lighting. Destined for expedited airfield applications in the Middle East, Langley has ordered a total of 300 solar LED taxiway lights and 25 solar LED barricade lights. Successful installations at more than 70 air force bases worldwide demonstrate the reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness of Carmanah's solar-powered LED airfield lighting.

New Light On the Horizon

The U.S. Coast Guard has endorsed the use of LED lighting for private aids-to-navigation. Previous regulations called for tungsten-incandescent bulbs. The Coast Guard has been using solar-powered LEDs for the federal system since 1999. These solid-state fixtures use minimal power, last longer (up to 100,000 hours) and are shockproof to withstand rundowns.

Substantial Order for Carmanah Airfield Light Mounting Systems Placed by Ali Al Salem Air Base

The US Air Force has recently ordered 1500 of Carmanah's airfield light mounting systems to be installed at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. More than 1,000 units of Carmanah's solar-powered LED taxiway lights are currently operating on taxiways at this air base mounted on temporary plywood brackets.

US Army Orders Additional Airfield Lights for Bases in Iraq

The US Army has placed an additional order for Carmanah's solar-powered LED aviation lights to be shipped to various locations throughout Iraq for expedited airfield operations. A total of 62 runway edge lights, 52 runway caution lights, 29 threshold lights, 28 taxiway lights, 12 apron edge lights and 6 obstruction lights were ordered.

Additional Runway Edge Lights Ordered by Balad Air Base

The US Air Force has recently ordered an additional 20 units of Carmanah's Model 702 runway edge light for permanent installation at the Balad Air Base in Iraq. Carmanah has more than 1000 units permanently installed at Balad for fixed wing and rotary aircraft operations carried out by the US Air Force and US Army.
