The R829C builds upon the long-established reputation of Carmanah’s solar flashing beacons, but is more compact and energy efficient. The new flasher continues to improve driver awareness in school zones and reduce vehicle speeds, while providing an unobtrusive, aesthetically pleasing alternative to existing technology. Like its predecessor, the R829, the R829C automatically adjusts to prevailing solar conditions in order to operate reliably in all climates.
Carmanah’s solar flashing beacons are especially effective at reducing vehicle speeds. The R829C school zone flasher is user-programmed to operate during peak times, such as when children are coming to and from school. The flashing sequence, which activates three times throughout the day for 15-45 minutes, is pre-programmed for up to 500 days in advance. Flashing reliably when it is needed most, the R829C alerts drivers that they are entering a school zone. Modifications to the programming schedule can be easily made at any time using Carmanah’s user-friendly, intuitive PC-based scheduling software.
The R829C also features an easier, less costly installation process. With no trenching, cabling, or disruption to traffic flow, the R829C installs in minutes onto any existing signpost and operates without requiring external control cabinets. Users also achieve significant, long-term cost savings because the unit requires no external power. Using patented electronics, Carmanah’s flashers feature additional operational benefits, such as no scheduled maintenance or servicing for 5 years. The R829C uses ITE compliant LED modules, and is MUTCD compliant.
