Carmanah has received an order from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for a number of its compact R820C solar LED warning flashers. These flashers will be installed for freeway construction zones in the Kingston, Ontario region.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation required a cost-effective warning device for construction zones. There is an MTO safety standard that warning flashers must be present to notify drivers when trucks are exiting work zones, enabling the trucks to safely merge back into the flow of traffic.
For this installation, Carmanah’s R820C solar-powered LED flashers were integrated with MS Sedco motion detectors. In fact, the motion detectors will be powered by the R820C “solar engine” as well as the LED-based signals. The result is an extremely cost-effective solution that can be installed without any trenching, cabling or connection to external power infrastructure.
About the R820C Solar LED Warning Flasher Beacon
The R820C is the most compact, energy-efficient and cost-effective solar LED warning flasher available on the market. With no trenching, cabling, grid power hookup, or disruption to traffic flow, the R820C can be installed for a fraction of the cost of traditional hardwired systems; in fact, with minimal technical expertise, this unit can be installed in minutes onto any existing signpost. Once in place, the R820C improves driver awareness and safety in construction and danger zones.
The R820C is the only self-contained, solar LED flasher that meets all MUTCD* requirements for flashing beacons.
Carmanah manufactures compact solar flashing beacons for construction zones, crosswalks, school zones, and 24-hour applications, and LED illuminated street-name signs and regulatory signs. More than 250,000 installations worldwide attest to the reliability and operational benefits of Carmanah’s products.
