Carmanah has received an order from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) for a number of its compact R820C solar LED warning flashers. These flashers will be installed for freeway construction zones in the Kingston, Ontario region.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation required a cost-effective warning device for construction zones. There is an MTO safety standard that warning flashers must be present to notify drivers when trucks are exiting work zones, enabling the trucks to safely merge back into the flow of traffic.
For this installation, Carmanah’s R820C solar-powered LED flashers were integrated with MS Sedco motion detectors. In fact, the motion detectors will be powered by the R820C “solar engine” as well as the LED-based signals. The result is an extremely cost-effective solution that can be installed without any trenching, cabling or connection to external power infrastructure.
