Carmanah has received a repeat order from Bermuda Government Works and Engineering to install an additional six of Carmanah’s R820 solar-powered LED, pedestrian-activated crosswalk warning beacons. These units will be installed at various intersections in Hamilton, Bermuda’s largest city.

Bermuda Government Works and Engineering had previously ordered and installed six units in 2004 to improve pedestrian safety in various busy tourist areas. This latest order is a result of the successful performance of those trial units.

More than 350,000 tourists visit Bermuda annually. With 65,200 permanent residents populating a total land area of just 20 square miles, safety for residents and tourists is a high priority. Carmanah’s bright LED-based roadway beacons are ideal for all types of pedestrian crossings, school zones and 24-hour flasher applications.

Carmanah’s roadway beacons combine solar power with efficient LED lighting and proprietary, intelligent power management. They are the most advanced beacon technology available in the world and will operate reliably in nearly all types of environmental conditions, including the humid, tropical conditions found in Bermuda.
