Vancouver, British Columbia – February 7, 2002 – Carmanah Technologies Corporation (CMH – CDNX), a leading provider of solar-powered, LED (light emitting diode) lighting solutions, announced today a new product line of solar-powered LED lighting products will be unveiled at the American Traffic Safety Services Association’s annual Convention & Traffic Expo in Dallas, Texas February 10 – 12, 2002.
As Carmanah’s products are solar-powered and completely self-contained, they are not required to conform to the wide variety of electrical standards in place around the world – making them globally adaptable to the billion dollar transportation market. Intent on reducing energy costs while improving safety, field trials of a number of these units are already underway with a number of Transportation Departments in the United States and in Europe.
“Our latest products for the roadway and transportation sectors incorporate a number of innovations in the field of integrated LED lighting and solar technology”, states Art Aylesworth, Carmanah’s CEO. “We are looking forward to introducing these new products to delegates from transportation departments across the United States, Canada, and Europe.”
Products to be unveiled include:
- School Crossing Flashers: The “Dual Flash IQ Unit” is a new cost-effective concept in school crossing patrol lights. The product is completely autonomous, can be installed in minutes and can be programmed for up to a year of operation using a Handspring Visor or Palm Pilot and Carmanah’s custom software.
- Bi-Directional Hazard Marker Post: This product is a new concept in road marking posts providing increased visibility and safety.
- Self-Contained Directional Light: The “200 Series” roadway light is designed for temporary or permanent installation on roadway signs or to mark smaller highway hazards. They can also be used on plastic drums or barricades in construction zones.
