As part of a pilot project, the City of Montreal in Quebec, Canada is equipping traffic signs with Carmanah R247C solar-powered flashing beacons. The bright and effective LED-equipped beacons are intended to help alert motorists to traffic signs in locations where they may otherwise be overlooked.
After evaluating a selection of warning flashers, road managers chose Carmanah’s R247C solar-powered beacons for this pilot project based on the product’s high visibility industry-standard 12″ flashing light (designed in compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices `MUTCD` standards).
With a compact design, the R247C installs easily onto existing signposts and requires no digging, trenching or wiring. Once installed, Carmanah’s solar beacons start working immediately, and perform reliably with no ongoing operational costs and no scheduled maintenance for up to five years.
In addition to the project in Montreal, Carmanah’s solar warning beacons are being deployed in other locations around the province through Carmanah’s authorized Quebec distributor, Electromega.
