TxDOT Installs Carmanah’s LED Edge-lit Internally Illuminated Street-Name Signs

Carmanah's Roadway Division has received an order to provide the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with two units of its UL-listed, industry-leading R409 LED illuminated street-name signs to be installed at a state-owned signalized intersection in NE Texas. TxDot is responsible for transportation safety of all people and goods for the State of Texas.

US Air Force Orders 200 Carmanah LED Solar-Powered Taxiway Lights

Carmanah has received an order from the US Air Force (USAF) for 200 of its Model A601 solar-powered LED taxiway lights with optional deactivation switches. These lights will be installed at a Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan that already uses more than 1000 units of Carmanah's solar LED portable airfield lights.

As a transplant from the data communications industry, I'm often asked how that experience relates to the renewable electricity industry. In truth the similarities between the two industries are greater than the differences. From a technical standpoint, the story of the data communications market of the 90's was fundamentally about a shift from highly centralized systems, to highly distributed systems; from fundamentally "dumb" telecommunications networks, to highly intelligent, adaptive "smart" data networks; from small, inefficient private company structures, to large, heavily leveraged, capital intensive corporate entities. Behind all these changes were two key enabling technologies, namely cheap computers and cheap hard drives - devices which effectively acted as the Internet equivalent of small distributed generation and storage systems.

Carmanah’s Sales Boom, But Costs Cut into Profits for Lighting Systems Maker

Sales of its energy-efficient products jumped 144 per cent, but the increase in profit for Victoria's Carmanah Technologies Corp. (TSX:CMH) was a relatively small 15 per cent. The manufacturer of solar-powered equipment, LED lighting systems and signage saw sales of $38.7 million for the year ending December 31, 2005.

Profits Light up Carmanah

VICTORIA -- Light maker Carmanah Technologies Corp. reported higher profits last year on a huge jump in revenues helped in part by an acquisition in the solar lighting field. The Victoria company said late Thursday it earned a net profit of $680,962 last year, a 15 per cent increase over 2004.
