The SPEEDCHECK-MX comes in two-digit sizes (12-inch and 15-inch) and is packed with premium features at no additional cost – like iOS and Android apps, data collection software, and more. 

Configure your model to meet MUTCD standards or add optional enhancements such as “SLOW DOWN” messages, strobes, and school zone beacons. Many states have SpeedCheck devices on their approved product list.

Designed with durable, weatherproof aluminum construction, vandal-resistant antennas, vibrant LEDs, and a unique safety mask that prevents distractions for passing drivers.  

The ultra-bright LED display uses MUTCD-compliant digits against a black background that prevents “88” ghosting—ensuring readability in all weather and lighting conditions. The protective, polycarbonate window is anti-glare and UV-stabilized for high clarity and features a unique safety mask that limits the viewing angle to prevent drivers from watching the display as they pass.

“YOUR SPEED” Sign Sizes and Colors

The SPEEDCHECK-MX static sign comes in more than 10 sizes and graphic designs, adhering to both MUTCD 10^th and 11^th edition standards.  

Carmanah’s static signs are easy to change on-site and include any reinforcing brackets needed. Two designs are available: W13-20 (“YOUR SPEED” on two lines) and W13-20ap (“YOUR SPEED” single line plaque). The 11^th edition of MUTCD recommends that the W13-20ap plaque be combined with a static speed limit sign (R2-1) above it, whereas the W13-20 is intended to only be used by itself and when approaching a curve. The sheeting is available with 3M High Intensity Prismatic or Diamond Grade retroreflective options in both the standard yellow or fluorescent yellow/green (for school zone applications).

We offer a variety of static sign sizes for both W13-20 and W13-20ap designs, which work with SPEEDCHECK-MX 12- or 15-inch LED displays. Sign widths include 30 inches, 36 inches and 48 inches.  

Strobes, Messages, Beacons and Radar

The SPEEDCHECK-MX radar speed sign is highly configurable and meets both 10th and 11th edition standards for MUTCD. It also offers optional features such as strobes and “SLOW DOWN” messages to create a stronger (but non-MUTCD compliant) visual deterrent. Two strobe options are available (white or red/blue), which can be included with the LED display at purchase or added in-field later.  The popular “SLOW DOWN” message (yellow LEDs) also uses directional LEDs with masking to aim the message only where you want it. 

The display includes a built-in single-direction radar with a detection range of up to 800 feet, and an optional external radar kit is available to fine-tune the detection zone. 

Display and Solar Mounts

Carmanah has designed a wide range of mounts for all types of poles, including solutions for square poles, flat surfaces, through bolts, U-bolts, and banding.  The installation is easy and can be installed by one person.  Every SPEEDCHECK-MX includes universal cast aluminum brackets to mount the LED display and works with any of our display mounting options.  An optional tilt and pan bracket is also available. 

SPEEDCHECK-MX Display Mounts

Our online Build Tool will help you customize your system – simply select your sign design, color, strobes and even pole type, and the tool will create your unique SPEEDCHECK-MX. If you select a solar option, it will run our solar sizing program to determine the best solar panel and battery to ensure the system is sustainable year-round.  There are various sizes of solar panels, and each works with these side-of-pole or top-of-pole mounting options:
