R920-MX

Connected Crosswalk Beacon or Sign

Boost safety at unsignalized crossings with proven technology, actionable system alerts, and detailed street-level data

Carmanah’s rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs) and LED signs are already trusted by hundreds of cities across North America and are renowned for their reliability, durability, and energy-efficiency. With the latest MX Series crosswalk flashing lights and signs, agencies can add connectivity to their infrastructure simply and affordably. Every system ships with 3 years of free remote connectivity.

Free out-of-the-box connectivity

R920-MX systems have connectivity embedded into their design, making installation easy.  From the moment a system receives power, it is ‘online’ and accessible both locally via the MX Field App™ and remotely via our web-based software, MX Cloud™.

Timely and actionable alerts

Rather than rely on the public to report downed or non-functioning infrastructure, cities can enable email and text alerts so they can know the minute there is an issue, be it a knockdown, dead battery, or something else.

Comprehensive asset visibility and data collection

System statuses are available any time in MX Cloud. Users log in to view their systems in a map or list view, bringing together numerous geographically dispersed assets in a single, centralized location. Adjust settings like flash duration and night dimming, as well as download data like daily activation counts.

Three reasons to choose an MX Series crosswalk system:

  1. Every system includes three years of FREE remote connectivity with MX Cloud™
  2. Modular design makes for faster installation and better, richer system data
  3. MX Field App™ is free forever and provides easy local access to system programs and settings

We put solar to work

Whether your project application is a crosswalk, school zone, or 24-hour sign marking, we can run a comprehensive site assessment to confirm the best solar-powered flashing beacon for your project. We run a field-proven software simulation to create a Solar Power Report™ to show you how we did it. Best of all? It’s free, and we can have it ready in 24 hours.

MX Subscriptions

MX Series 3 years free connectivity cloudConnectivity isn't one-size-fits-all. We offer three subscription tiers on all MX Series products, and every system comes with 3 years of standard connectivity for free. With MX Cloud, users can remotely access system locations, alerts, settings and data.

ADA, PROWAG and MUTCD Compliant Pedestrian Activation

Our MX crosswalk systems use push buttons and activation methods that are compliant to ADA, PROWAG and MUTCD standards and guidelines. The R920-MX supports standard push buttons with two-tone audible confirmation and visual LED confirmation, accessible pedestrian signal (APS) push buttons with locator tone and customizable voice messages. APS push buttons with non-contact operation and passive activation sensors are also supported, allowing pedestrians to activate a crosswalk without pressing a button.
Standard push button Standard push button
Accessible Push Button Station ADA push button APS push button (available with non-contact operation)
Passive pedestrian detection Microwave-based passive activation sensor

Overhead Lighting for Crosswalks

MX crosswalk overhead lightingWhile many mid-block crosswalks are in locations with traditional street lighting, it's typically not enough to adequately illuminate a pedestrian or light the entire crosswalk area. Purpose-built, pedestrian-scale lighting like Carmanah's overhead lighting systems integrate seamlessly with our RRFBs and crosswalk systems, providing bright, directional, and uniform light that allows drivers to detect pedestrians at a distance and adjust their speed accordingly. Studies have found that adding street lighting can reduce nighttime crashes by 50% and reduce fatal crashes by 43%.
